What is psychodynamic psychotherapy (tiefenpsychologisch fundierte Psychotherapie)?

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a scientifically recognized method. It assumes that current difficulties are often connected to inner conflicts and earlier relationship experiences that are not always conscious. Together we try to understand these connections and find new ways of dealing with what weighs on you. With younger children, this happens mainly through play.

How does therapy begin?

It begins with a non-binding first conversation. This is usually followed by five trial sessions, in which we gain a clearer understanding of your situation, make a diagnostic assessment and work out therapy goals together. We then decide whether short-term therapy (12 to 24 appointments) or long-term therapy (up to 90 sessions) makes sense.

How often and for how long do sessions take place?

Therapy sessions usually take place once a week and last 50 minutes. The scope and length of treatment depend on your individual needs and difficulties. If needed, the interval between appointments can be adjusted or individual sessions can be extended.

Are parents involved in the therapy?

When working with children and adolescents, regular conversations with the parents are also planned in order to support the therapeutic process as well as possible. With younger children in particular, close cooperation with the parents is important to me. From the age of 15, I also work with adolescents and young adults without involving their parents, if they wish.

Will my health insurance cover the costs?

That depends on your insurance. People with statutory health insurance can apply for reimbursement under § 13(3) SGB V if they cannot find a timely therapy place with a psychotherapist who has a statutory health insurance license (Kassenzulassung). Private health insurers and Beihilfe offices usually cover the costs. Funding through the youth welfare office (Jugendamt) is also possible.

More about fees
What about adults?

For adults, I offer psychotherapy under the Heilpraktikergesetz (HeilprG). Treatment is provided as a self-pay service; coverage by health insurance cannot be guaranteed.

Is therapy also possible online?

Yes, by arrangement, sessions are also possible by video. Whether an online setting suits your concerns is something we discuss together in the first conversation.

In which languages is therapy available?

Therapy and counseling are available in German and English.

Will what I say remain confidential?

Yes. As a child and adolescent psychotherapist, I am bound by professional confidentiality (Schweigepflicht) under § 203 StGB and the professional code of conduct (Berufsordnung) from the very first contact.

What should I do in an emergency?

My practice is not an emergency service. In an acute crisis, please contact the emergency numbers listed below or go to the nearest emergency department.

Feel free to get in touch.
